We all need Jesus because we fall
The Father so loved us he sent us his son
Jesus was born to save us all.

This song was again inspired by a letter, the Christmas 2006 letter to the congregation from our Pastor, Barry Robinson. He wrote that the gospel accounts of Jesus' birth focus on the seemingly insignificant people: Mary and Joseph, the unnamed shepherds, Simeon and Anna, Zechariah and Elizabeth. Throughout Jesus life he was the 'friend of sinners'. He died for the lowliest and most wicked people. He is our ‘Emmanuel’ still and God is with us now.
This was the second time Alison and I had collaborated. This song took a little longer than the first. The words came first. I had some advice from Melissa Harman, a local poet and friend. Alison came up with the melody after about a week and the song was first introduced to the Camberwell congregation at a Worship Workshop, where I can teach them new songs, on the 9th December 2006. It was used in the service a week later on the 16th December. Alison and I also played it at the Annual General Meeting of our local Community Centre just before Christmas. It was also played at the Salvation Army's service on Christmas Day at which we contributed the music.
